Cisco 1721 and Juniper J4300 Serial back to back connectivity

In this guide we try to configure back to back/ DCE to DTE V.35 connectivity of Juniper J4300 router with Cisco 1721 router.

Hardware Details:

     »  Cisco Router 1760

     »  Smart Serial Cables V.35 Interface.

     »  J4300 (Juniper Router)

     »  Serial Cable for J4300.

 

First we configure Cisco 1721 Router for DTE cable connectivity.

Login IN Cisco router, type below mention commands to configure you 1721 router Serial 1 as a DTE.

 

C1721# configure terminal   <┘

C1721# interface serial 1 <┘

C1721# ip address 10.16.11.2 255.255.255.0 <┘

C1721# encapsulation hdlc <┘

 

Now we configure Juniper J4300 Router for DCE cable connectivity.

The default IP of J4300 is 192.168.1.1, open your browser window and type,

http://192.168.1.1 <┘

enter user-name “root” and click on “Log IN” <┘

 

 

Now click on “Configuration” tab

 

 

In “Configuration” click on “Setup”
